About the Medical Reserve Corps

The mission of the Medical Reserve Corps is to improve the health and safety of communities across the country by organizing and utilizing public health, medical, and other volunteers.

The Medical Reserve Corps of Anoka County (MRC-AC) is a countywide resource of volunteers who strengthen our community by preparing for and responding to local public health emergencies and assisting with key public health initiatives.

The purpose of the MRC-AC is to:

  • Mobilize and coordinate volunteers who are interested in sharing their expertise during public health emergencies.
  • Train and prepare volunteers for their roles in advance, enabling a prompt and effective emergency response.

Our goal is to have pre-identified, trained and credentialed volunteers ready to assist during large-scale emergencies that threaten the health of our communities.

MRC History

In 2002, former President Bush initiated the creation of the MRC. It is a partner program with Citizen Corps, a national network of volunteers dedicated to ensuring hometown security. Citizen Corps, along with AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and the Peace Corps, is part of the USA Freedom Corps, which promotes volunteerism and service nationwide.
